DESMOSINE is a useful biomarker to quantify protease activity and elastic fiber degradation. It can be measured in blood, urine, sputum, tissues, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and other biofluids.

Desmosine measurements, however, are only reliable if the LC-MS-MS technique is used. We have 10 years experience with the LC-MS/MS assay in the clinical chemistry department of the Canisius-Wilhelmina Hospital in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.

Our company is part of ‘Jonkerbosch Medical Specialists’. We have measured desmosine concentrations for both pharmaceutical companies and academic researchers.
